Dulling the ABS Interior Panel Finish

I have the "chicken track" ABS interior panels for my 1935 truck. I'd like to take the gloss off the finish. I tried Rustoleum 2X Clear Matt spray but it didn't seem to make much of a difference. Has anyone had success in dulling the ABS interior panels?

What about scuffing it with some ultra fine scotch-brite and just painting it with flat or semi flat black???

My door panels are sprayed with PPG Black, and a adhesion promoter and flattening agent in the paint. The next truck I did I media blasted them with walnut shells and a tad bit of 480 grit glass media mixed in it was much quicker, easier and cheaper.

Not sure I want to paint the panels as it might start to peel in the future. I like the idea of media blasting but the roof panel is a bit too big for my sandblasting cabinet but I understand what you did. I guess I'll just continue to experiment.

Here is a video regarding chemical etching of "Delrin". I intend to use this process to etch Delrin parts that I produce that need to be painted. It wouldn't cost much money to see if that process is effective on ABS or whatever plastic those panels are made of.

Did you try to use lacquer thinner on it to dull it? Put some on a rag and rub it on to see what it does.
