Found a Johnson carburetor in a barn, looks NOS with some oxidation.
What is left of the instructions say it is for Ford 1934-1941 all models. I have never heard of this carb ,can anyone tell me if they were any good ??? |

I think that if they were any good, people would be using them now instead of Stromberg, and Ford / Holley carburetors.

The Johnson name was a rebranded auto part trademark. Some older Marvel Schebler carbs were rebranded under that name. I'm not sure whether it was Western Auto or some other auto parts distributor that used this name but I've seen model A carbs and later V8 carbs branded this way and they generally always have the Marvel Schebler name as well. Allstate rebrand was also used on Marvel Schebler design carbs.
Marvel Schebler and Tillotson were both divisions of Borg Warner Corporation back in that time frame. |

These are 2 on mine NOS on a pre war Edmunds water heated V8/60 manifold. Of particular note. The air cleaner neck is only 2.312. The 97 is around 2.600.
The very RARE Edmunds oil bath air cleaners are also 2.312 and fit carbs perfect. Just another tidbit. |

Do the air cleaners in petehoovie's photos fit the carburetor in question?
