Default ID different heads

I found these heads. 2 different engines and each engine seemed to have a Canadian and American head installed.
What is a EABF head? I’m assuming it is American made head.
Thanks

The EAB heads heads have the highest compression for stock heads. The Merc head is alower CR about the same as the8BS head. I haven't any info on the other head, be nice to see the combustion chamer.

This is the green heads. Strange dimple in front of 1 and 4 spark plug hole. None in front of 2&3

This is the EAB heads. Using the unscientific finger feel they seem very similar
I’ve seen other eab heads with other letters cast next to the eab

The last EAB heads in my book were the EAB-6049-C as of January 1953. Same for the other head EAB-6050-C. I have no idea what that F at the end designates. 8CM is common 49 through early 51 Mercury. The C8BA is a Canadian 8BA head. Canada put C in a lot of prefixes since they had their own foundry across the Detroit river at Windsor, Ontario.

What about the little block in front of the spark plug on the 8cm head. Only on 1&4 cylinder?

The dimples are on what I would say is an American head with the mercury script logo. I’m surprised nobody has seen this before.

None of my 8CM heads have that. If it was a spark plug shroud or intentional to the casting then all four clearance volumes should be the same. I would grind them off if using them on a stock Mercury. The Merc heads have lower compression than 8BA and EAB heads to keep the compression ratio similar for the larger cubic inch 255 engines.

Here's an "off the wall" guess : maybe the "C" stands for "Compressor" instead of "Canada". They made some that ran on 4 and pumped on 4.
