The reason John Deere Corhead grease works so well innour old cars is beacause it
thixotropic.
Is this true of "green grease"? I am doubtful.

I just bought 2 tubes the other day at my JD dealer. Its green. The product description says it is a "semi fluid" grease. I wonder what temp it goes from solid to liquid, but...I use it without loosing any sleep over it

A lot of us here around the Barn use it in the steering box, too. Cuts way down on leakage.

Be sure to keep your steering box completely full of grease or the top bearing will ware out and you will be pulling the entire box to replace it. I speak from experience.

Tractor Supply has a similar product, I believe, but I bought mine from John Deere.

Do you guys use Corn head grease in your steering boxes and transmissions?

How do you empty the steering gear box? Air pressure?

Gl-4 gear lube in the transmission, corn head grease in the U joint area, and steering box. usually installed at the time of a rebuild so its an empty box to start with. No idea how one would clean out a steering box while its still in place on the car.

^^^^ and remember , nothing special about the "JD" in the name. Cornhead grease is just nlgi 0 polyurea grease. The name on the tube or color of tube is irrelevant.
