Are all the starter ring gears the same in the 8BA family? Everything I've seen for sale mentions 112 teeth.

Yes; 32-53 all share the same ring gear. Flywheels change through the years; not so the ring gears.

NOT TRUE! The ring gears are different between late and early style. I've posted pics before on this...I'll try to post 'em again tomorrow. DD

The 32-48 ring gear is wider than the 49-53

Thanks a lot for the info. My 49 F1 has never sounded very good while cranking. while I have the engine out I want to change the ring gear and starter drive. So it looks like whether it's car or pickup, Merc or Ford they are the same?
My pickup has a 9.5 inch clutch so I presume it's from a car? Also noticed the stamped starter mount/flywheel cover has been welded so it could possibly be an alignment issue.
