Opinions please. For a non-points car. Which two piece side rain drip rails are "best" i.e. easy( or easier) to install and look good the aluminum or the original steel?
Also, are there instructions for bending the rear two piece steel top moulding? How does one do this to not screw it up? Thanks,Brian W. |

O.K. So, no one has any experience or opinion on this? I'll bet a few of you have replaced the drip rails and other top mouldings doing a top or during a restoration.

No experience with 29 and only experience with my 31, use an original if at all possible!
Bending the aluminum are a pain in the hands! Don't use flame for heating, drip. Between my hands I worked it around a solid object, oxygen tank cap I think. Rubbing it back and forth while pulling towards me. Started at the backend worked to the front, started a nail and pulled into place. Caveman like but it worked for me. For the back I got lucky and reused what came off. Don't set the nails tight until your done, because there a real pain to remove if you have to, I think I worked several days pure side. Painted after installed, that was way to many years ago and probably forgot a lot of steps.

I bought an original one from Berts of Denver .much easier than messing around with the repro ones .I would call Steve and see if they had any He is on the Fordbarn .I think his name on here is Steve31 If I had to use the repros I would try the steel ones at least you could use some heat on them. |
