Hi, who are the experts on the Eaton two piece radiator caps?
I purchased an original cap today at a swap meet but the top is damaged. Does removing the centre rivet allow the locking centre to be removed from the shell or do you guys have a better way of repairing the stainless steel top. The knurling and base are good. Thanks Richard |

MARC had an article in their magazine a while back. I don't know the issue.
Here it is; “Stainless Steel Cap Dent Removal”: Model A News /56/2/17 (2009)

the answer is no the rivet only holds the inner parts together. you need to peel the upper part of the cap off,

I've been told it's been done by heating the edge with a torch and pulling with pliers to separate the halves works. I've also been told soldering "dent pullers" (wire or metal rods) works. I have yet to try either. The article mentioned above involves slicing the interior half at the edge to release the pressure and pulling apart wth pliers.
