I have pulled out the driver's window operating mechanism. I am working on cleaning and making it work like new.

I have questions,

1. There is slight surface rust. What is the best method to clean the mechanism of the surface rust?

2. The metal piece which holds the window appear to have been painted. Should the part be cleaned to apply a new coat of paint?

3. The material which comes in contact with the glass, inside the metal channel. It is stuck in the glass support. How do I get it out?
