Default Highland Park or The Rouge...

Which of the two Ford plants was the official "assembly plant" of the Ford cars and trucks during the Model A era? Highland Park or The Rouge and just what was the difference in the two?

Thanks.

Pluck

As far as I know I believe it was the Rouge. The major difference was that it was design for raw materials to enter the plant and a car would come out in the other end, thus reducing dependency on other vendors, to minimize the effect in production.

During the Model A era Highland Park was used for parts production like machining castings and forging, crankshafts etc.

A lot of the commonly seen Model A parts production photos were taken at Highland Park, not the Rouge.
Thank you.

Steve, Our Model A was the first complete automobile assembled at The Rouge, First A's produced 11-23-27. Prior to that Highland Park assembled T's as well as many other locations, while The Rouge manufactured "damn near "everything for FMC. Your photos coming next week for sure. jiml...

Made a date mistake. First Model A's produced at the Rouge was 10-23-27, NOT 11-23-27...

I've seen references to pictures taken in front of the "Engineering Laboratories", where was that?
