Hello all. I'm trying to figure the location and correct mounting of the door bumpers, dove tails etc. on my 1929 closed cab pickup. The reveals are in the door so that seems obvious, but the wood is new and it looks as though part of the assemblies mount in the top of the door jamb, and in the lower b pillar. I have the latches, and strikers in, and the large dovetail installed. It's the smaller ones I can't seem to figure out. Any photos would be much appreciated.

I have a picture of the latch side door jamb. Is the metal part in the center of the picture what you are concerned about? If you post a picture the area of concern that would help us figure out exactly what you are unsure about.

Thank you Rusty. My truck is at work, and I'm home for the long weekend so I can't post until Tuesday. The area you took a picture of is helpful, the corresponding piece on the door is what I am unsure of. On the top of the door there looks to be a matching recess and I am unsure what piece goes there. Thank you for your help I will clarify with photos.

Here is a picture of the rubber bumper on the top of the door. Also a picture I found of the B pillar rubber bumper. I think these are what you are looking for. The side bumper is held in place but the small "barb" in the metal B pillar clip.

Fantastic, now we are getting somewhere! thanks so much. Does anything go in the wooden jamb above that bumper? or does it just contact the frame wood itself.
And in your first picture, is there anything on the door that correlates with that "cup"? Thanks again, John I see now in your added photo. That is just what I am looking for, makes sense now. Many thanks! Last edited by badshifter; 05-29-2016 at 12:46 PM. |
