Default Installing A Windshield Hinge Rubber Gasket

I'm attempting to install a windshield hinge gasket in my 1930 Ford. I've tried gluing the gasket to the hinge and the parts just won't adhere. I using a product by Loctite called "Stik'n Seal". Does anyone know of a better glue for this project or is there a whole different way of installing the gasket?

Another way is to use Contact Cement. Make sure it's a solvent based one, not Latex based. Wash the hinge with wax and grease remover to make sure it's clean. Then apply one light coat to the gasket and the hinge and let it dry completely. Then apply a second to both parts and let the glue become tacky. Then put the two parts together. You get one try at this. if you pull it apart you will have to clean everything up again and start over.
I've used this for years and still seems to work the best. John Poole

If you go to an auto parts store, you can get '3M weatherstrip adhesive' That stuff sticks so tight you won't get ti off. Glue it on, and tape it in place, and you'll be set.
