I can see how this might happen considering what you're seeing. Spring perch below.

Can you "spread" it a bit to make it possible to put in the shackles? Maybe it's just a particularly "tight" curve on that spring? Spreading may get you past the hump? Likely you've already experimented...

You know, you don't need a 12 leaf spring on a pickup - it may even be a not nice to have as the pickups tend to ride a little "tight" with their enhanced rear spring.

You don't mention your supplier. He may be selling something that is "reverse engineered" without using the Ford drawings? Seems like EVERY spring maker sells you a "better" spring than the car might have originally? I don't think they would tell you if it's "worse" than original.

Spring maker may be using up stock from other jobs and not conforming to Ford drawings or spec?

To my knowledge there is only one place you should be buying springs from - that dude in Connecticut. His website has been mentioned here in other threads but escapes me now. He alone seems to produce springs meeting the Ford requirements.

Does anyone have the Connecticut source web-address?

Travis Cook at www.a-springs.com and is located in West Hartford, CT.

I can't go there now as I am at work (bugging off) and the company deems the site as "malicious material" and the site is untrusted. (Their way of saying get back to work.)

I'm not sure he does the 12 spring, but it will be a 10 spring that will be EXACTLY RIGHT - and not all that much money beyond Macs.

The incremental cost of doing it right is so small compared to the hassle of getting it wrong.
