I noticed the narrator called the Roadster a Cabriolet. Also, I didn't know Ford experimented with a Moon Roof back in the day. Interesting.

I think that's a 33 roadster and it had a 32 V8 hubcap on the rear.Check out the 32 roadster at 3min and 51 sec -downtown scene.

In the above scene the 32 is sporting a set of trade plates (note the triangle above the plate) and hilariously the small ford nearly runs a pedestrian over while demonstrating it's acceleration.

That 9hp doing drifts was amusing. They are not as stable as Ford makes out. Back in the 70's when I was at school a mate had the later version E493A Prefect and he rolled it taking a corner too fast, it was not hard to do in the "upright pianos" because of their high centre of gravity. Lucky he had another one as they were cheap to buy and a dime a dozen. Over a weekend he took the bent body off it and replaced it with the body off the other and came to school with it on Monday with a change of colour from metallic brown to metallic blue.

Don't forget UK car taxes were based upon horsepower, so the game was to minimize the number, not exaggerate it like here in the colonies. 9 HP didn't equate to the same amount of power we equated it with.

The popular was the cheap 8HP model Y. It may have been cheap (£100 at one time) but still not many working class people could afford them. Hence the sparse traffic on the roads.
The Y was 8HP the V8 was 30HP and the smaller V8 was 22HP. RAC horsepower rating used for taxation purposes was a calculation based only on bore size, not stroke, so the development of engines in the UK was stunted somewhat as small bore long stroke designs prevailed. Mart. |

Frank, the RAC HP is just a number used for paying tax on the car. The 30HP V8 is the 85 horsepower motor we are familiar with.
