A while back I got a set of NORS door sills for my '30 Briggs Town Sedan at an extremely good price. (Bratton's wants $180 for them). The other day I started to install them and noticed the ones on the car had finish washers under the screw heads. They look to be nickel plated brass. The screw set Bratton's sells does not include finish washers.
So my question is, did Ford originally use the finish washers? They appear to be the same finish washers used on the window trim under the screw heads. I have some S/S finish washers along with some S/S screws (Bratton's screws are galvanized) but now I am wondering?? They do look nice tho... ![]() ![]() |

I have finish washers on the window trim on my 30 Town Sedan, but not on the door sills.

My Murray '30 Town Sedan has the door sill plates nailed on, and I believe that's the original installation. And I have those finishing washers on the window moldings. Mac's has those finish washers in nickel, they call them "flush type finish washer".

It appears the Murray has a different door sill than the Briggs. The Briggs definitely uses screws, the holes are countersunk.
JayJay, Thanks for the heads up on the finish washers at MAC's. The "flush type finish washer" that MAC's has must be what was used previously, except the nickel is worn off. I have some stainless ones ordered. ![]() |
