Default How is door post wood on 31 removed?

I have all the tacks and applicable screws out of 31 Tudor door upper post wood pieces...all the rest of the wood is removed in the body. (vertical piece where striker is located) Wood is still tight in the slot. How is it removed? Must be something I cannot see....and books do not mention this process.

Thanks

On my 31 coupe, it is screwed from the outside with a few nice long wood screws, then the quarter was installed. I bet you will have the same issue here...

The screws grapp speaks of are between the belt rail and bottom, I think there are two of them.

there are 2 screws that go into the wood before the outer sheet metal is hung at the factory. here is what works for me!!!!!!!
get a slide hammer with a wood screw in it and slap out the wood from the body. once the wood is removed get a dykes and remove the 2 screws the heads will pull right thru. dont worry about reinstalling them you wont be able to

Mitch is right, if you aren't going to pull the skin of you will need to remove the screws to get the wood back in. You could, depending on your outside finish, weld a flat head machine screw in the old screws place, drill a hole on the wood, with a counter bore for a nut and washer. If you have a nicely painted car this may not be an option. Just be cognizant that ford did add insulation or sound deadner/anti squeak between the post and the skin so watch for any fire.... My coupe has/had what looked like old fiberglass insulation but it could be cotton too, that would flame up....so be careful...
