I just received two generators back from Steve Blancard, ndnchf user name on the Ford Barn. He was great to work with and did a very nice job on each of my generators.
I had him go through two three brush generators, a high output unit from the mid thirties (this particular one was from 1936) and a very late three brush generator. Both of these generators had been sitting on a shelf for decades with the rust and grime typical of cores. Attached are pictures of each generator during and after Steve finished working them over. The high output unit: The late three brush unit: |

For those who don't know, I'm retired and just do this on the side. Since I'm not on the clock I takes as much time as needed to do the best job possible on every generator. That rare high output generator that 38 coupe showed above was a real challenge. Not only did it have some unique parts that I had to make, but it was in pretty rough shape to begin with. It took a lot of work, but came out well. I'm glad he is pleased with the result. Here is what it looked like to start with. Steve

Can someone give some info about "high output" and differences from the normal generator?

Ford had a lot of different generators, including a number of high output types. A look at the generator section of the green book will make your head spin. In general high output generators were for special applications like busses, police cars or trucks with additional equipment. They can produce roughly 50 - 75% more current than a standard generator, often at lower RPMs. They are larger and heavier, and came in 2 and 3 brush configurations. Hope this helps. Steve
