Identifying Engine Rebuilder

I'm going through the mental process of seeing if my engine can support some modifications (B cam, 6.5 head, larger carb). I do not know who rebuilt my engine, and therefore am questioning the quality of it. I do, however, have some paperwork from the rebuild that might help. It was done in 1977, and I've heard that babbitt quality varied from vendor to vendor back then.

From the attached paperwork, does anyone have a clue as to who might have done it? If it helps the car was in Rhode Island in the time frame that the engine was rebuilt.

Couple thoughts:

• The image resolution limitations on this forum are too small for any pictures of documents to be readable.
• 50 years ago there were many more rebuilders than today, including some that operated out of general-purpose repair businesses. Whoever did it may not have been known as an antique engine rebuilding shop.
• If you can find a copy of the Model A News (the MARC mag) from 1977, you can check their ads. I looked in the Restorer from '77 but didn't find anything that would help you.
• You could check with the Little Rhody club, a MAFCA affiliate. However, in my experience, clubs don't keep good archives.

I think I may be able to solve the mystery. I have the same paperwork you show in your post, plus the itemized list of the work and parts involved to rebuild the engine in my 1930 Model A Coupe back in 1984 (see pic). The Company was "Pioneer Valley Model A Ford" owned and operated by Warren C. Paul in Chicopee, MA. He did super high-quality work as evidenced by my car which now has almost 35K miles on the engine. Never had any issues with it relating to the rebuild. I'd say a top-quality job.

Hey, what a find! It's unfortunate that I don't have the itemized list but it's cool to know the likely place where my engine came from. Mine's .030 over with a balanced crank. I'm assuming a stock cam as well.
