![]() ... ![]() I have noticed something about this kit - https://www.wilwood.com/PDF/DataSheets/ds965.pdf - ...that has shocked the heck out of me ... The INSTRUCTION SHEET reads can be used with original single reservoir MC. The RPV located within the MC has to be removed (I can understand that). I DON'T THINK SO! The MC will not have enough fluid volume to properly operate the front disc and rear shoes. There will be no RESIDUAL PRESSURE VALVE for the rear shoes. I don't see anything about a PROPORTIONING VALVE in the sheet. One poster even said to leave the rear shoes adjusted not so tightly as to allow the extra fluid volume in the calipers to return to the MC more easily ... ![]() And this from WILWOOD, the most trusted name in braking conversions. Is just OLD FART RATTLING or does anyone else see something wrong here? REFERRING URL - https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=344338

The 65 T-Birds had a single reservoir with a single line out. It actually split on the block mounted on the output port. The front line went straight to the calipers. The rear line went to a proportioning valve mounted on the inner fender before heading to the rear drums. They worked perfectly. The front were Kelsey Hays calipers, same thing used on the GT 350s.
Best picture I have of the master.....

Yeah, it was a SGL RSVR with two outlets ('FRUIT JAR'), one for disc and the other drum w/RPV (before the DUAL RSVR was mandated).
There is no way (IMO) that an early MC can generate enough line pressure and volume to initiate front disc, much less the rear drums. I thought ( ![]()

KULTULZ,
I found this paragraph on Page 5 of the instructions you had a link to. •It is highly recommended that a Wilwood proportioning valve (P/N 260-8419) be plumbed into the line that feeds both rear wheels. When installed and adjusted properly, it can reduce the chances of potentially dangerous rear-wheel lock up during hard braking. Is this what you were looking for? Don |

THANX!, but no.
I am wondering why they state a SGL RSVR MC (single outlet) will work a DISC/DRUM CONVERSION.

But I’m a believer in dual chamber masters, separate residuals, and adjustable proportioning valves. More work, more money, but you have brakes. Even at that on my old cars what setting works for the rear on dry pavement can be damn touchy in the rain. Given the half dozen times anti locks have saved my ass, I wish those came in a kit. |

For anyone that doesn't understand braking may get a rude awakening. It bothers me that a company of this stature/quality would advertise the kit in this fashion. Who actually takes the time to read an INSTRUCTION SHEET.

The T-bird single reservoir was a massive thing. Only available with power brakes. Might have been the same as 66 Fords. CRS
