Anyone know of a vendor that sells rebuilt or reproduction 33-34 front door latches? My 1933 cabriolet doors are missing the front door latches. As a last resort has anyone ever installed bearclaw latches on a 33-34 ?

Note: I found while driving, that those latch mechanisms inside lock in different directions! One way locks and the other direction opens the door. I had mismatched assemblies on an early '34 set of doors. Newc

There are more than 7 different 1933-34 door latches
Roadster/Phaeton front door. We make them. Phaeton rear door. 1935-36 Roadster/Phaeton is a direct replacement. We make them. 1933 Coupe/Sedan/Cabriolet front door, inside handle to front. Not currently reproduced. Late 1933-Early 1934 Coupe/Sedan/Cabriolet, inside handle to front, inside handle works opposite from earlier 1933. Not currently reproduced Late 1934 Coupe/Sedan/Cabriolet, remote inside handle to middle of door. Not currently reproduced. 1933-34 Fordor rear door. latch and remote handle, same as 1932 fordor rear. Not reproduced (though I suspect a 1932 5 Window latch would work with the inside handle link modified. 1933-34 Station Wagon. same as 1932 and 1935-37... I do not know if reproduced. Pickup/Panel/Truck front door. Same as 1932. Reproduced by UP. Then sedan delivery, panel rear doors, and some other commercial vehicles??? As to bear jaw latches, latches are fairly easy as the curve of the door gives good clearance. Handles to open the door with bear jaw latches, not quite so easy. Outside handle with remote inside handle, a bit harder. And key locks to lock the door... We have the pieces to make it happen (as we use on our 1932 3 Window) but getting all the "monkey motion" working is a challenge. |
