Are the oil pans supposed to be engine color or black?

Black is correct . I use to paint them gloss black . I now use semi gloss .

OK black they are!
That would leave me to believe that the engines were not painted as 1 unit from the factory. The blocks were painted then they must of added the oil pan on. |

Everything was painted individually after machining and before being assembled. That is why none of the fasteners are painted.
