could anyone measure the location from the center of the front spring(axle) rearward to the center of the steering box hole in the frame. my frame was boxed and everything welded closed and ground smooth. i am going with an f1 box and want to use the original drag link. so I want to put the steering shaft hole pretty close to the same location. post dimension her or if you could email to [email protected] . now with the good weather I am back on a roll getting my rod together

For some reason I totally fail to understand I posted 32 frame diagrams, not the 33-34!!! And this ones doesn't help in the least on steering box location. I can take some measurements in the morning if you still need the information, I have several frames laying around.

JSEERY is right of coarse, and if you had a block in place you could "adjust" the location to fit your exhaust. its very tight in that area

I just measured my '33 and its 22 1/2 " center of front spring location to center of sector shaft.

With respect, all those drawings that you posted are of '32 frames. I am absolutely certain that the subject frame, a '34, will measure differently. For example, a '33-'34 drag link is noticeably shorter than a '32 drag link.

When I built my 32 pu with smooth reproduction rails I found an original frame and made a template based on the cowl bolt hole as a reference point. I made the hole then spent quite a bit of time boxing the area inside the frame for added strength. It worked perfectly. I ended up slotting the holes slightly to allow for the more vertical pu column. When I was done you couldn't tell it was not a stock frame. I used one of Neal Jennings 37 Hudson boxes modified for a deuce. He also makes them for a 33/34 which I have also used. They steer like butter.
