The kit that I used keeps the differential but changes to an open drive shaft. There are lots of threads on the pros and cons of this conversion. I've never had a problem with mine and I love having five speeds forward. The thing I like the most is the ease of downshifting to help braking. I did have to notch the crossmember which I wasn't to happy about. Frank
