Restoring a 1941 Ford Pickup and upon removing the hood, hood braces and fenders I have questions about the holes in the side of the cowl. I know the top two and the one in the very front is where the hood braces connect. My question is the other three (next to the curve), especially the lower one. I see a rubber bumper in the upper most one of the three, but what goes in the next one and the lower one.

That hole is where the inner fender panel bolts, rubber bumpers in the other two.

![]() 41picup, You might already realise this, but the rearmost hinge arm needs to be sticking up. There may be enough play to allow it to swing up, but if you don't want to force it you might need to remove the hinge from the cowl to allow it to swing around the back. Mart. |

Thanks, my inner finder was broken on both sided were it bolted to the cowl.anc the bolt holes on each side were ripped out. Was considering welding them up, but thought I better check first.

I believe the two holes on the line of the fender (the rusty curve) have been added by a previous owner. The three holes along the lower edge of the surface are used by the bigger trucks except the rearmost one is used by the pickup also. Mine has had one extra hole drilled, but not the second extra one shown in the pic of the black cab. Mart. |

So does that bolt that goes through the cab, to inter fender, to finder have some sort of spacer on it? I know there was some space between the finder and that are of the cab when the fender was bolted on.

Yeah, it's a sort of angled U bracket. One bolt into the cab, another bolt through the inner fender and fender.
