Default Brake noise( or so I thought)

Just recently put the rear end back in my AV8, and bled and adjusted brakes. So the first few miles were ok, but then I started hearing what I thought was the shoes dragging. It only happened when slowing down and would seem to go away when I took my foot off the brake.
I adjusted them several times, but the noise wouldn't go away. So today on the way to work I took a curve at a good speed and the noise happened again. No brakes were applied, and Viola! I figured it out. When I had the rear end out I also installed a set of drum retainers, now I turned both wheels many times and neither was rubbing.
So the fact that it rubs in turns( only left side) has me concerned. Is there too much movement in the left axle? With these type retainers, it wouldn't take much to make them rub. I'm using ribbed wide five drums and the retainers just fit between the ribs.
Should I be worried? Or just trim the retainers?

My problem was on the front.
Might be the backing plates rubbing the drums. I dealt with that. Machined the drums, not in the usual way, but to make space for the edge of the backing plate.

May be able to tighten wheel bearings just a bit. Look to the noisy one that's on the outside when cornering.

I still hear it when cornering harder. Irritating.

I drove it again tonight and do hear it in hard braking as well. I'm thinking it's so close that when shoes press outward on drum it's enough to make it rub.

I may be wrong, but I think there is some up and down movement of the rear axles when cornering or on a bumpy road. This will cause your noise. Look at the retainers and drum carefully to see where there's rubbing and then file or carefully grind the retainers. Plus, there may be some small amount of "rim flexing."
