One of the guys in our club just uses the suction cup dealiebob on the windshield.
Tom Endy had a neat idea for a GPS: http://www.santaanitaas.org/wp-conte.../Mr-Garman.pdf My wife has hers glued to her hand and plugged into a USB port that I fastened under the gas tank with Velcro.

[QUOTE=CarlG;1295710] Tom Endy had a neat idea for a GPS:
http://www.santaanitaas.org/wp-conte.../Mr-Garman.pdf I saw Tom's in his car and he was very gracious to let me take pictures so I could make one myself. It slips over the dash rail and I lined it with felt so it would not scratch the dash rail. I'm sure it could be adapted to hold a cell phone. |

get a cheap clip off ebay or amazon and glue a few of those rare earth maginets to it and stick it to the dash.
or yea the universal windshield suction cup mounts would work great.

I have a built in nagagator in the passenger seat. It is in charge of the cell phone and directions.
Thanks for the idea, I will perpose this as a design problem to my students and see what type of devices they can come up with. We have a 3d printer and I will print the winning idea and post photos. Unfortunately, school is almost over and this will be an early fall project.

Ditto ! Also illegal in NH -- very easy to stop on roadside for cell phone use (and stay alive).

Suction cup. iPhone has GPS navigation, speedometer, mileage tracking, and more. No need to wire in accessories

I use a Rokform case that has a magnet in it. It's behind a piece of rubber on the case and doesn't scratch the paint. I use this magnet for the phone in the car, and I put it on gym equipment when I'm at the gym. Works like a charm.

You can ask Siri for an app to count the rust flakes in the tank that are attracted to the magnet. Hands free.

I use Ram Mounts for everything. I remove one of the existing bolts on the dash rail and screw in a ram mount "ball", then I can hang a cup holder, iPhone mount, etc. without messing anything up.
