Help 8ba Mercury Clutch and Pressure plate
Help, I've lost my original clutch and pressure plate for my
1950 Mercury. The pressure plate bolts are 3/8-16. Any ideas on where to find this part? New or rebuilt. Thanks for the help. Marvin Fagan 214-697-8430 |

Re: Help 8ba Mercury Clutch and Pressure plate
If its a Mercury you got a pressureplate thats different from a Ford.
Not sure if there are aftermarket ones... Im to far away or you could have had one to rebuild. Last edited by flatheadmurre; 09-28-2015 at 02:02 PM. |

Re: Help 8ba Mercury Clutch and Pressure plate
The 49-51 Mercury clutch disc is 10 in. dia.
I have one in my 40 Ford. Last edited by 19Fordy; 09-28-2015 at 04:12 PM. |

Re: Help 8ba Mercury Clutch and Pressure plate
Search for P/N 355538-S. They are 3/8 - 16 X 3/4" long. If you can't find some then you may have to go grade 8 or ARP fasteners for clutch covers.

Re: Help 8ba Mercury Clutch and Pressure plate
The original bolts are indeed 3/8-16x3/4 but are special bolts that are not threaded all the way to the head.
Needed a few a while back and made them out of 1-1/2" long ones. Looks like the intent was to make the bare shank portion of the bolt to act as a pin.

Re: Help 8ba Mercury Clutch and Pressure plate
It maybe better to go with 1953 Ford truck flywheel 10" clutch and pressure plate.
