I have a 390 I just got all my parts for, so I will be getting ready for the swap soon...
I have a 57 Fairlane with the y block 292. I went ahead and purchased a 68 Galaxie 500 pulled the engine and trans and sold the car. I plan on using my original Y block motor mounts (heard they will work just flip them around). A lot of people say the FE is a bolt in. Does that include the transmission? I believe the trans is an MX by looking at the pan. Do I need to modify my crossmember for is that part of the bolt in? Also the Galaxie driveshaft yoke has an external weight on it? Do I need that or what should I use? Thanks in advance, ~Chris |

Bolt in. FMX was a cast iron case with aluminum bell and tail. 68 could be a Fordomatic/Cruisomatic.....

yes the motor is a drop in but you will have to do mount work for the trans.i never saw a 68 390 that didnt have a c6 trans.
