Ford song from 1915
A friend found this record while clearing out an estate. The song is "The little Ford rambled right along" by Arthur Fields. It is actually model T era being recorded in 1915. Pretty cool

Really cool find. Production of the T went on so long old Lizzie became part of our culture. Here's a link to it being played https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3gs_wqA8W_U

Re: Ford song from 1915
I have it also. Came with a cache of Victrola records. Really a neat tune.

On Blue Amberol cylinder record too. Got a copy kicking around that and the disc. I have "to get out and get under" to put my hands on it.

Re: Ford song from 1915
I've got about 100 pre-RCA Victor records for my Talking Machine. But I don't have this one. Still looking...

Re: Ford song from 1915
I have both - "The Little Ford..." came from e-bay for about $20.00 including the shipping - it was badly advertised, and "Henry made a Lady..." came from a junk-type flea market for $0.50 and about 45 minutes of digging. The seller has no idea what I got there. I also have a set of late 30's training records with film-strips they go with but they are mostly sales with very little in the way of mechanical instruction.
Gives me something to play on my great-grandfathers Victrola |

I have the roll "He'd Have To Get Out And Get Under" (to fix his automobile) on my
player piano...real catchy tune!

Re: Ford song from 1915
Does anyone know if the 'Little Ford' was ever available for an Edison Cylinder Phonograph? It would be nice to play it on mine. John

Re: Ford song from 1915
I have restored two interesting Ford songs...."Get Her in a Rumble" and "Poor Lizzie".
Both sung by Billy Jones and Ernest Hare around 1928. The Rumble song talks about your better chances for romance with your girl in a rumble seat. Poor Lizzie refers to the sad old Model T now that the Model A is in production. The records were electric recordings made by Edison using the "hill and dale" method. After my restoration, they sound real good. Marc |
