have been acquiring parts for a 30 sedan for a few years now & after cleaning the frame I found 2 sets of numbers. the 1st set is located in the middle of the upper flange between the steering box mount & the rear hood latch mount. the other set is toward the outside of the flange 1 in. behind the cowl bolt hole. the frame is an early 28 because it only had 1 set of holes for the front hood latch which I had to drill the other set for 30-31. the 1st set is A3209226. the 2nd set is A1511913. can anyone give a clue as to what body would have been on this frame? just for curiosity. thanks in advance. Bruskie

Most likely the one behind the cowl bolt is the original one ---the frame # is hidden by the body, the # has no relation to the body type, it was stamped on the frame after the engine was installed using the engine #----later in the assemble the body was put on

The front crossmember will be wrong for a 30-1 frame. The radiator will set too high, and it might have solid engine mounts.

I received a title with the body when purchased so I guess i'll have to restamp the engine & frame to match the title. also had to change the center crossmember as the frame was not straight using string lines. Once it was removed the rails moved back in line. the crossmember was definitely bent.

The databases are getting better and better (and more intrusive.) Just be prepared for a knock at the door. (Kidding, actually. Probably some neighbor who wants to see your antique car.) I think you should stamp both engine and frame with 20,000,001. Isn't that a claim of fame of sorts? Joe K

Bruskie, I'd use the April 16, 1930 number. It's already on the frame, just change the engine number to match.

Did you change out the running board brackets also? From forged to pressed steel?
How about the emergency brake cross shaft (if later than an April 1930) and the center cross member to correspond to a 1930? Pluck |

No matter what number is correct, if any, there is no way to know what body was on the frame.
may 6, 1929 for one number, april 16, 1930 for the other.

I think most states allow you to change the title with backup pictures and documents (bill of sale, etc.). You might check with your local or state DMV and see if it is possible to change the title. In MN where I live, I believe you can change the title. I had to replace the engine due to a cracked block, so the engine number is different.

no I got the engine from a friend needs mains & new oil pump. I guess I can get an assembled vehicle title by turning in the title I have & pictures of the frame & other parts.
