Can some one post a photo of the correct type valve stem covers that would be used on 1937 Ford? Back then, as they do now, Ford used Dill valve stem covers. I recently came across these (see photo). I also have regular caps in an old box--they are metal too.
Looking for the correct type. Any help appreciated. Thanks. Last edited by TonyM; 12-14-2014 at 04:50 PM. |

While reading I thought, what to hell is a engine valve stem cover, then looked at the pic and said ooooh. I bet nobody else did that. Walt

You used the correct terminology Valve stem covers or valve stem caps...either is correct. Here are two examples

If you are interested in this sort of stuff you REALLY need the '37 resto book, which covers this sort of stuff in detail. I've got the '38-9 here, and it says dome topped nickle plated brass.
There is folklore calling for dome tops on wheels and Schrader tool tip for spare, the way many aftermarket valve cap sets were boxed, but this seems to deny that. |

I hate to rain on your parade, but those pictured look exactly like a set of 4 (albeit in a plastic bubble wrapped card) that I just purchased at Napa to put on our Kia Soul.

I hate to rain on your parade but you're the guy with a Kia. And you admit that publicly? Rain? Think Typhoon...

Nice! Don't shoot the messenger. Also, don't knock it if you ain't tried it. BTW, the last thing I would think about doing on this board is criticizing your wife's choice of her daily driver. Last edited by tubman; 12-16-2014 at 06:42 PM. |

I thought that the main reason those folks dressed-up in the little rat suits was to be able to remain incognito. DD

#2) My wife's "daily driver" in the Winter months is a Mercedes ML350. In the Summer she either drives her Carrera (that's a Porsche to you) or the Mercedes 600SL. That's a twelve cylinder (about 400HP) two seat roadster. #3) I have too much pride to allow my wife to be seen in a KIA. #4) Shoot the messenger? Heck, if I owned a Kia and was proud of it, I'd hope I'd at least have the sense to shoot myself.

Thanks Bruce. I have the EFV-8 C/A 1937 Ford Book. I have read it several times. There is no illustration of the correct valve stem caps. See page 4-2. There is only a brief description. Thanks.

The ones in post #6 have a glint that looks wrong for nickel and thread areas that look a bit crudely rolled...I'd say the one on right is about what the '38 book calls for but is of very modern manufacturer, and cruder than OEM. All the late models I've put air into have had rubber/plastic caps, though.
The ones in first post appear to be some sort of accessory type with allegation of extra sealing, not what Schrader would have supplied into OEM channels. |

Don's pic nailed it. All five tires the same, no mix & match.
