1938 Rear Fenders
Other than the tail light opening, are the rear fenders for a 1938 Deluxe Sedan the same as those for a 1938 Standard Sedan?

Re: 1938 Rear Fenders
From the 1938-39 Ford Book: "The '38 Standard Sedan rear fenders are unique. The '38 DeLuxe, '39 Standard, and '39 DeLuxe sedans all used the same rear fenders."
The 1938-39 Ford Book is available from the EFV8CA as well as many parts suppliers.

Nope standards are standards, Deluxe are deluxe.

Re: 1938 Rear Fenders
As far as that goes pretty much every piece of sheetmetal on a 38 std (other than the actual doors) is unique to that car. If don't have it or yours isn't that great be prepared to look for a while before finding something satisfactory...38 STD is the ultimate definition of one year only plus it was half of the car line (with the other being the DLX) and it just so happens to be in a year where sales weren't very strong. Yikes!
Be thankful you aren't looking for 38 STD coupe fenders. |

Re: 1938 Rear Fenders
The recession of 1938 affected all US car manufacturers not just Ford.
38 standard coupe rear fenders are the same as 38 deluxe coupes - except where only 1 tail lamp was used. 1938 standard rear fenders are the real orphan. 1938 std and deluxe coupe and sedan doors are all the same. The stainless trim is way different though, except for the coupe rear 1/4 trim which is shared. Last edited by swoopNZ; 07-04-2014 at 11:46 PM. |

Re: 1938 Rear Fenders
No so with the doors. '38' Sedan doors must have the top edge of the door shaved off to fit the coupe opening.

Re: 1938 Rear Fenders
Except the 39 and 40 have the 2 raised sections along the top edge on the inner panels. Also the 40 is set up for a vent window as well.
