Default Victoria rear bumper question

When we attached the rear bumper brackets to the frame of the early 31 Vickie that I'm restoring, and set the body back on the frame, there is only about 1/8" above the brackets to the body? Should there be more space between the two, wrong brackets and stands? Can't find the dimensions for the Vickie stands anywhere. Are the brackets for the Vickie unique to the model, or will they also fit other models? Can anyone offer some advice to solve this question? Thanks.

Do you have your brackets placed on the frame corectly? In other words the end where the bracket attaches to the frame should be placed under the top edge of the frame...I am sure you do have the right placement.

If this is a car being put together with parts not original to the original car itself, it is possible that you have the wrong brackets.

I do not know if it is a mistake in the 1931 Parts Price List or not but the Rear Bumper Assembly, A17809-B was only unique to the Taxicab and the Victoria.

There are quite a few brackets/assemblies to choose from and finding that right bracket/assembly for that right car could be tough is one did not know just what unique features to look for.

Someday, we need to do a definitive article on those brackets and assemblies of each and that would take a few researchers to do so.

I have a start on it as I have quite a few Part Releases pertaining to those brackets but PR's alone will not cut it...not on this project...it will take the drawings and the original item/items to do so and since the Ford Motor Company charges an arm and a leg for that information...well it is on hold for now a least on my end.

HOWEVER...if I am not mistaken...I think Chuck Christensen, MAFCA's Technical Director is attempting to do so...If this is the case, then I wish Chuck would come on here and ask for help.

Thanks Steve for your usual informative reply. And yes, the restoration is from non original parts. The car has been under restoration for about 30 years or so, before we bought it, many original parts were included, but many were not.The body work is in the final stages and were trying to work some of former mistakes. The chassis, engine and running gear have been completed also.
