My vin number is A2740786 ...on the title. when i looked it up it said dec.1929
the engine is AA3026688. that is a truck engine from mar 30.. Is the title number sound funny or were 1930 cars with that number really built in December of 1929? |

If the car was assembled in January or February of 1930 it could very well have been assembled with an engine built in December of 1929. And that engine number would have been the number stamped on the frame and therefore entered on the title.

It sounds like you have a replacement engine that is not original to the car...

Steve Plucker has all the engine numbers and production dates. They can be viewed on his web site. Use the following link.
Model A Ford Restoration Guidelines and Judging Standards state that the assembly date for a vehicle may be as long as 3 months after the engine was produced (four months in 1931). http://www.plucks329s.org/pdf/studie...n%20Charts.pdf

Marquitz--In 1934 the number was on either the trans case or the flywheel cover. Can't remember for sure which. email me at [email protected]. I might have what you need.
