Here is mine. This is the real deal with "78" part number.
Thank you John Mason. |

They beat me to it! Part number on bottom 78-9600. Unless the air cleaner for heavy duty/dirty/dusty conditions usually found on trucks. Think they were available then.

No Tommy, I don't have that particular '37 air cleaner that had the 78-xxxx part number. TonyM bought that one from me several years ago. I may however have a '39 version, that appears to be just like '37, except for the Ford part number stamped on the bottom. I can take a look for that in my parts, and/or put you in contact with someone who likely has what you need.

If the suffix (only) changed then the part is basically the same.

Attached are pictures of a 78-9600 air cleaner that I have. It is missing the clamp, but the question I have is something else missing besides the clamp? The diameter of the outlet only measures 2 1/2" and does not fit the 2 5/8" O.D. of the carburetor. The pictures in link John Mason posted makes me think I am only missing the clamp, but why doesn't it fit the carb inlet?

Beside the dry style air cleaner as pictured above there were two different manufactures of the standard oil filter (United shown below and Donaldson) and a heavy duty oil filter.

I have a 91A-9600 with a hose connection at the rear of the lid. Anyone know what this could have been from?

RKS.PA most likely the hole is from an aftermarket road draft tube in an effort to have the engine burn vent fumes.

Be leery of photos sent to your email. No one else will have seen them and you might get sent down the wrong path. Have you looked in the EFV8 Clubs book on the '37 Ford? See: https://shop.efv8.org/collections/fo...book-softbound

Another 37-39 air cleaner that was for sale here with more pictures attached....
Note: seller originally had this advertised as a '34 to '36 air cleaner and this was back in the day when other members could reply to someone's for sale or wanted ads. Seller then corrected his ad. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...37+air+cleaner

Kube, I have either a Chandler Grove 94 or a Stromberg 97 that I can use. I measured the Stromberg again today to confirm the 2 5/8" dimension. I think it is a large logo 97 with EE-1 on the base.
