Mallory distributor 2301105 2301106
Hi everyone, I'm looking for some information regarding Mallory Distributors for the Model A.
I have a 1928 Model A with a Model B engine fitted and running a Mallory 2301105 single point distributor. I note that Mallory also make and supply a distributor for the Model B engine which is distributor model # 2301106. Q.1 Can anyone tell me what the difference between the two distributors is. Q.2 Can the Model A distributor be used succesfully on a B engine. Q.3 Can anyone supply setting up or fitting instructions for either the 2301105 or 2301106 distributors. Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Runnerbun |

Re: Mallory distributor 2301105 2301106
I'm using the 2301105 distributor in my banger engine.
Other than an extensive amount of time tuning the advance curve to my engine, it has been trouble free. My distributor is a single point unit. I believe that the 2301106 has a different advance curve. Either unit is fully adjustable for advance rate and total degrees. I'm using the MSD High Vibration coil. Ken |

Re: Mallory distributor 2301105 2301106
Thanks Ken, you have confirmed my suspicion that the only difference between the 2301106 & 2301105 is the advance curve.
I have done considerable mileage with my 2301105 in the B Engine and it has been trouble free but I get the feeling that at normal cruising speed the advancing is not correct. I'll do some homework and see how I go with changing the advance curve. Any advice on changing the advance curve to suit the B engine would be appreciated. I have added a pointer to show TDC so timing can be set by regular timing light. Runner |

According to what I see the '05 is as you stated a single point dist and the '06 is a dual point dist. The '05 is a replacement for the A and the '06 for the B.
