Aluminum oxidation reduction
What do you guys use to prevent/slow down aluminum oxidation after bead blasting parts/pieces? I want to keep nice aluminum appearance as long as possible. Heads on display engine for example. Thanks, Lawson.

Re: Aluminum oxidation reduction
Lawson, I do not remember the brand but used a high heat or engine enamel clear over the intake i media blasted. It did not hold up to fuel but if only for a display it will give you years of a more natural color and apearence.
I will dig thur my “spray paint dept” and see if I can find the brand.

Re: Aluminum oxidation reduction
OK, I have experimented with using silver antisieze on aluminum heads. Use a rag to wipe a thin coat on the aluminum.... keeps them clean looking for quite a while. Try it
on a piece of scrap if you want. Wear disposable gloves since antiseize makes a mess on your hands. |
