Default 1930 Model A only driven 23 miles in 40 years

Yep, just what the title says. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-di5rwhAMzQ

He restored it 40 years ago and sold it to a guy who was afraid to drive it. Bought it back yesterday for my adopted dad for his 95th birthday.

Can I adopt you too? My birthday is coming up in September.

How do you adopt a dad, or a mom for that matter?

Ha! Well it's more than just a term of endearment with us. Bob stepped in my life decades ago about the time when my "real" dad divorced mom and wrote me off because of opposite political views (nope, not kidding) and infidelity. Bob and I are exactly the same on politics, God, country, and cars. Next thing you know, he's calling me "son" and inviting me to family functions. He is dad in every definition. 20 years later, we are putting both our names together on Model A titles. About half of our cars are co-owned. His Model As are on my insurance policy. As many times as we have become blood-brothers while working on Model A's, it is now biologically correct to say we have some of the same blood too. That man is dad.

Life is so much better with those sort of people in our lives. Real dads who are present, Surrogate dads, or true friends and mentors. I enjoyed the video, and the car still looked pretty good considering much of that work was done 40 years ago!

It makes no sense, why people act like that.
Life IS too short, let it go, stop the hate The hate only eats the hatee,, from within.
Someday the day is coming, when we all have to stand tall, before the Man, and atone for everything we have ever said or done or even thought.

You're right, my brother! Thankfully, my mom changed and stopped the hate. I'm so sorry yours did not. Truly. When you "delete" hateful people from your life, then it is completely on them now. They have a choice...

Kinda why I don't do the other forum anymore.

I "divorced" my mother about 42 years before she died. Maybe if I didn't, she might have willed me a Model A. Nah, the b#$%^ wouldn't even attend my marriage. It was my father who held the family together. He had enormous knowledge that would have helped a Model A owner.

My mom didn't attend my marriage either. I feel your situation, man. My mom couldn't stand my spouse (who I met in 7th grade) because she wouldn't bow to my mom's whim. Nearly 40 years later, my mom adores her. There's always hope- Until the time expires.

So, getting back to the car: Why was the gentleman afraid to drive it? Was he afraid of breaking something or of wrecking the car? Would this would be a reason to buy a "driver" rather than a trailer queen.

I'm not sure. My guess is since he is a large man, he just wasn't comfortable in it. Bob's theory is he just liked tinkering with stuff, not actually using it.
