Early 1928 tudor sedan

Good morning,
I had a early 1928 tudor come into my shop yesterday, it is a Febuary 1928 car very cool with many early features.

Pluck, Pollock, you guys would love this car!!!

What I find very interesting is the serial number on the steering column,
I did check to see if it was a part number.

My ve-28 column has no serial number...

I will have to check this on the early column housing I have. Already sold the endplate for the early light switch, so only have the housing left. Worm and sector gears were shot. Rod

Just dug mine out and no serial numbers on the housing. I know of another early chassis and may have a look at it sometime this fall. I have thought several times about buying it, but will have to hold out until I find a decent early body to put on it. Rod

My friend just bought the car and he is very knowledgable on early 28 cars. The car has been in the phila pa area for the last 50 years

I hope the previous owner didn't sell due to health issues. It's obvious he was VERY serious about doing it justice. The interior fabric was custom made for a handful of folks with very early cars to match the original which was only used for a few months. Similarly, the braided strip across the top of the door and rear side trim panels was also a near perfect duplicate to the original custom made at BIG bucks per foot.

I have no idea who the previous owner was but the one photo tells the story. It's great to see an example of someone going the extra mile because they care.

It's still the original interior. It has a little wear in the rug, but otherwise the interior still looks much like new. The car sat from 1956 until about two weeks ago. Thank you for noticing the detail.

I have never heard of the serial number on the column. The early 28's are my favorite.

My dad's 28 Tudor was bult at the Rouge on July 27, 1928. It has a lot of early features like a multy-disk clutch and the same type of starter switch. Cool car on these photos!

Very cool. I had an early '28 (not as early as this Tudor) roadster pickup when I was younger, but didn't appreciate it. I kept it all original, as is my policy anyway, but had to sell it for taxes in the mid-80's. Sorry I ever let it go. A friend says, "I never sell anything, because I always regret it sooner or later." I agree, and hence a garage and house full of "stuff."

Speaking of early roadster pickups ---- it was my understanding that even though many Model A pickups got early features such as left-hand emergency brakes, it was because Ford used outdated features on the commercial line of vehicles until they were all used up, whereas the cars got the new features as they came out. I have a 28 RPU with provision for the left hand emergency brake, but I think that it was manufactured in late 1928. Anybody know when the first Model A roadster pickup was made, and at about what serial number???

yea the AA's got the table scraps too. really depended what plant they were made at decided if they had old parts to use up or they started using new parts at any given plant.

My March 28 sport coupe ser#62@@@ has a different column but has the same starter set up as well as the left side e-brake. I just love the early quirks
