Given the Model A is closer to a carriage than today's cars, he should be treated like a horse thief.

Hmmm? I noticed a charge of criminal mischief; nothing about car theft? Maybe unauthorized use of a motor vehicle means theft? He must have some experience where Model A's are concerned. Looking at his picture I would have to think that the owner better have a good insurance policy, as this guy appears to have nothing tangible worth much, at least that is the impression I get. Any body up for a lynching? There must be a way to make this guy pay the owner personally for the damages.

From his photo, the thief looks like a real prize specimen.

Unfortunately, he's just one of the many goofballs that can been seen in central Or - NoCal. I have relatives in Bend, and see a lot of that type walking around. Must be the ideal climate for growing high potency weed.

I second the motion - treat him like a horse thief. Or at least put him in the stocks for a couple days.

Sorry to say, but we have way too many weirdos like that here in S. Oregon. They need their "medicine" at least 4 times a day.

What a terrible outcome for a nice car.

Went to a wedding in Bend a few years back and was amazed at the number and extent of tattoos. And the guys were even worse.

never been to No. Cal OR Oregon, why all the weirdos? And the tats, I'm seeing more and more around the Midwest even.

To sum this up, and Model A related, there is more and more DISRESPECT in our country, people who disrespect their bodies aren't gonna give a hoot about YOUR property. Or Your safety.

Something has to change boys..............

We (wife, her sister, 12 y.o. niece) ended up leaving because of the behavior of the crowd (drunkenness, profanity). I commented that I've never voluntarily hung around that type of person and wasn't about to start.

Bend is a beautiful place, very scenic, full of very nice people, and several nice vintage cars. And a few bad apples. I don't know what attracts the dirtbags to these places, but NoCal and OR seem to have way more than their share. It might have something to do with the people in charge having an excess of tolerance for antisocial behavior.

I seem to notice more frequently the attitude that if "He/She" isn't/wasn't using IT that IT is ok to take IT, whatever IT is, usually a car though. Just something I have noticed.

Other stories I have seen on this say that the guy who stole it was homeless. The horns make me think that it wasn't a perfectly restored car but it still makes me mad that someone has that little regard for someone else's property. How did he do it? Were the keys in it?

Not everyone owns or wants to own a "Fine Point" Model A, car theft is car theft no matter what the value is. Bob

I'm surprised that clown could even figure out how to operate it.
