Not sure if I've shared this happy faced one I picked up around 2005. The seller said he bought it as someone's abandoned project and hadn't tried to start it. I had no use for some 'oddball buick engine' specially with some kinda auto-matic transmission behind it. Well I got it started and man did it KNOCK! I gave the engine to a friend who's into gm hotrod stuff, and installed a 302 with a T-18 from a local farmers F250. I kept that beauty of a radiator though.

I find the body lines of the Australian 40-41 trucks fascinating. I looks to me like they were imported as chassis - cowl units, and everything from the doors back stayed the same as the 38-39 units. Out of curiosity I found a photo of a 1940 Ford New Zealand truck for comparison, and that unit appears to have been imported as a chassis - cab since the doors match the cowl. If you like trucks and are ever near Invercargill you have to stop in at the Truck Museum where this picture was taken.

Australian 1940 Ford Truck. Note the three pressings in the door, a carry over from 1938-1939 Ford Trucks. |
