Re: new type U/joint
I bought one 3 years ago from Drake. It had a captured cup washer for the bolt. The washer was installed backwords and required disassembly of joint to fix. I gave up on it. There were some threads here about early failure because lube does not get in the needle bearings. They may be assembled ok now.

Re: new type U/joint
Never used one but I remember talk of the rollers eating into the joint and cups . Lack of angle let the rollers pound into the same spot . I would also think the use of SAE 140 in the u-joint cavity like I do would help BUT AGAIN THE LACK OF ANGLE seemed to be the real issue .

Re: new type U/joint
It's a repop of the Lincoln u-joint.probably foreign made. Every Lincoln joint I've ever pulled out was worn out. I used a NOS Ford joint in my Zephyr.

Re: new type U/joint
I have run an original Lincoln u-joint in my 300 hp street rod for almost 40 years. I checked it out last year when I rebuilt the motor and it was as good as the day I put it in. In my other car I put the Bob Drake Lincoln u-joint in and have been very happy with the unit. I used to work with a friend that restored old Lincoln's to concourse levels and he was the one that turned me on to these u-joints. As long as you keep it greased properly you should never have any issues with it.
