Went to the dmv 2 weeks ago for QQ tags-elderly lady told me she couldn't tell the color of my car by my scanned photos....
I said, sure-it is blue-she said I can't see blue-I asked her to get a supervisor, but to no avail-so I wasted over an hour of my time and returned home. I then mailed the paperwork to Trenton and it went right on through.... Funny thing is-Trenton mailed me a paper and said the tags were coming.... 3 days later the tags came and was told the registration is coming.... still waiting on the registration.... I am wondering how the state can afford all of that postage when they are always broke? Is NJ trying to support the USPS postal system because they heard they are going broke? I find the whole situation comical and have to believe there are better states to live in then NJ, when it comes to registering your antique.... WHat is your states process....? |

It's cheaper to send you a notice telling you you have to wait a few days then to have you call them and pay a person to be on the phone while they look up the information and tell you you have to wait a day or two.

Agreed Mike, but three separate mailings?
Think I could run it a bit more responsibly.... at least turn a profit. BTW- a title costs 60. here and only 10. in KS-how so....? |

Some of the postge waste is from automated responses...I ordered an extra copy of my registration last time I renewed, and, yep, they arrived simultaneously in two envelopes.

Be happy you got it registered without jumping thru hoops, getting bonded, etc as many here have had to do. JMO

![]() It took me 18 months, a lot of wasted driving back and forth trips to the bonding company, and DMV, and cost me $500 for bonding, fees, and taxes to register 2 of my Model A's. After 3 years the bonded titles change to clean titles. Bonds had to be for one and a half times the appraised value of each car. Others in Minnesota have had much better luck than I had. It seems going to a small town DMV works best for most in this state. |

The bonding process was quick, painless and not real expesive here. $175 plus some postage start to finish. 2 more months and the bond can be lifted for a clear title. Rod

Very interesting Rod-heard Nebraska was worse then NJ!
Of course, I started out with a fresh new title, so the whole bonding thing is another issue. Just makes me laugh that I always feel like I am dealing with hitler when I deal with dmv.... Don't we pay their way with our taxes? WOuld it be so tough to actually be nice about it....? Imagine walking into your dmv and being treated civil.......................................... that has never happened to me here. |

Nebraska is awful as far as the way the law is written. You have to look closely, but there are afew loop holes you can slip throgh with the right wording and documentation. Also the local Sherriffs office does the inspections so being friends with the ones in town helps. I was fortunate that when I went to their office to turn in my paper work one of the ones I knew was there and quickly grabbed the inspection paperwork and by the time I had finished my business at the courthouse, stopped for lunch and made it home he had already done the inspection. NICE!
Guess I shouldn't complain, as we don't have inspections here. |
