I have putting my tattered/brittle original side curtains up to my '28 phaeton to see how things fit in order to make up a new set. I have several questions.
Front door curtain. There is a 3" high strip that mounts to the inside of the top iron with a twisty/turn button fastener. What is this type of fastener called? The bottom of the curtain fastens into a body socket that is pressed into a 3/8" diameter hole in the body at the belt line. According to LeBaron Bonney, the male fastener that is attached to the curtain is no longer available. Lebaron's new style fastener is difficult to install as Lebaron has the only tooling for it. Has anyone found an alternative fastener to use with the 3/8" body hole, with or without the body socket? Rear door curtain. It appears that the upper rear door curtain and the upper front curtain both attach into the same 5/16" hole in the top iron. What fastener(s) are used here? Is it some sort of piggyback connection? Quarter curtain. Along the top edge and rear edge of the quarter curtain are 4 grommeted holes. I am thinking that there should be some fastener attached to the top material itself to go into these holes. What fastener is used here? Thank you in advance for any help. |
