Default Neat Photo of a 1931 Roadster Speeding Down Missouri Rt 21 in Bonnie & Clyde Country

This great photo shows a 1931 Ford Model “A” Roadster motoring right along at a good clip, probably in Jefferson County, Missouri in the early 1930′s. The first thought that came to mind after seeing it was the movie Bonnie & Clyde and their driver C. J. Moss. Stop by The Old Motor to see an enlargement of this photo and and a movie trailer for the Bonnie & Clyde Movie.

It sure is and they are quite a bit of work to keep in good shape. We live on a very nice dirt road out in the country that is quite similar and they only stay that way for a short while after they have been graded unless they are treated.

From the looks of the lack of tire tracks on that road, she was freshly graded and raked. Living on such a gravel road, I can well picture the scenario, probably a nice spring morning, right after a long winter and mud season. That road, graded and raked only once or twice a year, and the driver of that "A" looking down that long stretch of flat, smooth, unmolested driving surface, just had to "open her up" for all she could go to celebrate the day! Been there, done that!

C W Moss was just a character name in the movie .

The real driver was W D Jones.

Probably so as not to shower the camera person in rocks and dust.
