Default '36 Fire Wall Question

I just had my '36 sand blasted and found the upper left-hand (pass side) corner of the firewall had at one time been cut up and made into a battery box, apparently. Then, someone in the distant past tried to restore it and tried forming the "X" on the face of the firewall out of fiberglass. I want to do it correctly.

My question is, does anyone make that piece with the "X" in it? If not, I'll make a die and form one, but it'd be so much easier & faster if I could just buy one and fit it in.

Thanks for you help,
-Bob

If it were me, I would definitely make a patch out of metal. Instead of making a die, find a local street rod shop that has a bead roller. They should be able to knock it out for you in about five minutes.

If you're looking for some metal fabrication motivation, check this thread. Great photos! The metalwork starts at post #14.

Have never seen any part of the firewall advertised .Best bet is to fabricate what you need.Using cold rolled steel is easier to work with that hot rolled according to the guy working on the Zepher in post above .

Thanks for everyone's input & offers. I appreciate it.

There's enough left of the problem area for me to measure & replicate it. It'll be a fun project...........I hope !
