Has any one seen the 12 volt left hand tail light assembly for sale on ebay? The person has three and is asking $1036.00 each. I sent a message asking why the steep amount, that was two days ago and still no reply. Just wondering,

Anyway he is getting his publicity on his listing because he got us talking about it...

I'm not sure about that particular seller -- but I've seen others do that when a part they sell is out of stock -- it keeps the listing active, without having to explain delays in shipping orders to buyers (since, obviously, no one buys at that high price). When the supplies would come in, they would then set the normal price again.

Must have been a mistake, it is now $36.95. I've done that before.

X2 on the "out of stock" comments above. I emailed them (Gearheadworld) about this and some details of other auctions last summer and they replied this was the case. If you glance thru their other auction (there's a pile of them) you'll see several other items that are similar - mirrors, door handles, bolts, etc. that are all priced in excess of $1000.

I think that trick is silly and self-defeating. I put a "maximum price" limit in my search criteria when looking for small parts, so a $36 item listed for $1036 won't show up in my search results.
