I have a peg board with a lot of my special / coustom / shop built Tools hanging on. Here is the problem every time I take a tool off The hook comes with it . It's a real pain in the A**. Has any one found a hook system that works with a peg board that the hooks stay were intended ????? |

Many of the pegboard hooks you can buy at Home Depot/Lowes/etc come with little black plastic clips that snap between two holes, symmetrically on either side of the hook that keep it from lifting or coming out too easily. I've had good luck with them.

Simple answer. Peg board has 1/4 inch holes, most of the big box stores cheep hooke that are undersize and do not have back tabs. You need to get actual 1/4 inch hooks with a back tab that faces up behind the peg board when the hook is inserted. It's made into hooks, all quality hooks are made that way and should fit tight when inserted. Frank

I put a little silicone on the back of the hook and hanger pin and that seems to keep the little buggers in place. After the silicone sets it's good to go and not a big deal to pull them off to re-arrange.

Take a picture of the board with all the tools on it. Then, take the tools off and drill a 1/16" hole on each side of the hanger, somewhere just above the bottom of the clip. Next, take the board down and wire each hanger to the board using the new holes. Twist the wires on the back side of the board. Put the board back up and use the picture to get all your stuff hung back where it was.

Hey Tom, you know that (to work on Flathead Fords) you only need one hammer, a BFH...

I've noticed there are two different types of hangers. One with thin wire and one with some pretty thick gauge wire. Next time you go, look closely and you'll see what I mean.
The thick hangers take some pressure to get into the peg board and usually stay put without anything holding them in place. For the thinner ones, I'll fish a zip tie and secure it that way. Once locked in with the zip tie, they ain't moving. |

in the Air Force we signed out our tool boxes at the beginning of the shift and every tool, even the smallest ones, had a cut out shadow in foam lining in the drawers. You darned well inventoried it EVERY job, and when you turned it in at the end of the night. Heaven help the poor schmuck who couldn't remember where he left that 1/16 allen wrench!
I need to start doing that in my tool boxes now and on peg board. You could paint or tape shadows for each tool so at a glance you know if anything is missing. |

These Talon hooks fasten well without coming off and come in both 1/8 and 1/4 inch sizes. They come in a limited number of styles and are not as strong as some auto tools need. http://www.leevalley.com/US/wood/pag...=1,43326,43327 |
