On the Early Ford V-8 site (www.earlyfordv8.org) there is a section for Mercury's. There you will find Tom O'Donnell ( his screen name is TomO) who is extremely knowledgeable about 39-40 Mercs. I'm sure he can refer you to parts sources that have Merc parts.
