Default Cam bearing issue

I got my engine back from the machine shop, they installed the cam bearings for me. My question is, one bearing has a slight chip in it right on the edge. I don't have any pictures of it at the moment, but should this bearing be replaced again or would it not affect anything? These are new bearings installed, not used. Thanks.

Not to worry, the most important issue is the clearance between the cam barings and the bearings in the block. Chips scraches and even a few gouges wont bother it. It is the best lubricated, least loaded bearing in the block and rarely wares out. I have a box full of them that still measure stock.

Thanks, I'll put up a picture tomorrow just to be sure. All the cam bearings have some slight wear from when the cam was fitted once, however the scratches are just visible and not deep enough to catch a fingernail - except the nick.

Chip is fine but what is with the rust? The block should be clean. I would remove the cam bearings and get the block rust free.

I can't believe you even considered a problem with that. It's going to look a lot worse after you get the cam in. Forget about it. What is with the rust though?

It must be the angle of how I took the picture because the block isn't rusty. It does have red oxide primer covering it though.
