Default Oil filter

Looking to add a remote oil filter to my 1940 flat head. Need to make sure I plumb this thing right. There is a port to the left and right of the oil sending unit. I assume one is a retrun, but not sure which one. Viewing from the back of the block there is one to the left of the sending unit which i assume is the out, the one to the right of the sending unit would be return??? Help.

Sounds like you are saying that there are two ports plus the oil sender. the one to the left of the sender (which should be horizontal) would be OK to use as the feed to the filter. (picture doesn't show) The port to the right sounds like access to 95% filter system.

Hi you. I forgot your name. This is Walt Dupont. You called me once about that flathead in that snow mobile. Everdently you have one of those Canadan engines with that extra oil port on the right side of the sender unit of the block. I under stand the Canadan milatary made those blocks back in the 40's for full flow filters. What you have to do to make that a full flow system is, remove that outside plug on the left side and install a special plug inside that passage. Now the oil comes up from the pump out that side hole to the full flow filter (mounted someplace) and returns through the filter to that hole on the right side of the sender unit. Question call me. Walt PS- There if a guy in Canada that makes that special plug that goes in that passage. Someone on here know how to get in touch with him. Walt
